Yes, you should totally choose public domain or Creative Commons art over generating AI art for your blog, but let me also assure you that most blog posts don't need or even benefit from art, and you can safely use the time, effort and (literal) bandwidth you would have put into providing a picture for every post toward some activity that makes you happy.

@catileptic @lrhodes annoyingly I've found over the years that a pic, any pic, does drive engagement... If that's a thing you want to drive! Numbers aren't the game for everyone, but if they are a metric you need to worry about, a picture is often really useful. Annoying but true.

Yep. It's especially important if you want to make it more likely that people will see the post on social media. I often just use photos I've taken or screenshots that relate to the point of the article.
Agreed though that it takes some time and that it's perfectly legitimate not to include an image!
