Great point that "Joining the Fediverse isn’t a difficult, unpleasant experience by mistake. It’s by design." And not just the Fediverse, this was true for the "Identiverse" before that, and for Indieweb.

So I think this is a challenge the "onboarding people from one of the millions of existing websites" strategy by itself doesn't overcome -- unless it's also accompanied by "stop listening to the guys who have designed the Fediverse / Indieweb / Identiverse to be so hostile to newcomers."
