    • It's opt-in, so posts are only bridged to Bluesky if I'm following. Is unfollowing@bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy as effective at blocking@bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy in this direction?

    • If somebody also doesn't want to see posts bridged from Bluesky, is it enough to block @bsky.brid.gy or is it better to domain-block bsky.brid.gy?

Hi! Sorry for the delay here, infosec.exchange is oddly 404ing Bridgy Fed's fetches of this post, even though it's serving other posts ok. Not sure what's going on there yet.

Anyway. If you're currently bridged, and you want to disable that, you can either block @bsky.brid.gy or DM it stop. Unfollowing alone won't do it. https://fed.brid.gy/docs#opt-out

To hide all Bluesky posts, you'd block the bsky.brid.gy domain. It looks just like another instance to fediverse software, so instance-level tools like domain blocks work like normal. We discuss this briefly in eg https://fed.brid.gy/docs#moderation and https://fed.brid.gy/docs#Each+bridged+network , but we could probably be louder about it.

Thanks! There's an interesting point here: unlike standard federation, bridgy allows one-way blocking (blocking @bsky.brid.gy keeps your posts from being bridged to Bluesky, but you can still see posts from bluesky.

There are other situations where one-way federation would be useful as well, for example if somebody wants to follow accounts from Threads but also wants to make sure data doesn't get sent there to use for AI training / ad targeting / whatever. It's like I've said before, one of my key takeaways from the Bridgy Fed brouhaha (haha) was that bridges are undertheorized!

And, weird that bridges of this particular post was getting 404'ed... I just noticed that I left out a space and it had "blocking@bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy" so maybe that has somethiung to do with it?
